Sound Project                  Victoria Saal

In our Sound project we had to create a detailed outline that explains the sounds that will be used to build a realistic representation of our narrative. On the other hand we had to create a scene with many different sounds and create four of those sounds ourself and the rest we had to get from sound websites. We had to choose our sounds very carefully and patiently so our scene can turn out exactly how its written out to sound like and how we want it to sound like. Overall, we had to create an audio recording that conveys the story of the scene we chose.

What I learned during this sound lesson and assigned videos is that sound has a very big impact on how a scene is supposed to come off as. It plays a big part in the film industry and is conveyed to be one of the most important features in a scene to give the viewer the thrill and excitement the scene should give. Sound effects also make scenes not only sound believable but look believable. This can immerse the audience in the world of film. Overall, sound plays a huge part in the film industry that significally enhances the experience for many viewers.

My partner and I brainstorming was not easy. It took a while for us to come up with a scene that was pretty decent and realistic to make. During our brainstorming we both sat down in silence for a couple of minutes and we would both come up with various ideas and scenes. We planned out each scene when we would both agree on one and find creative ways to make the different sounds ourselves. Once we got our outline it was very useful to help keep track in what order our sounds would be in and which sounds were doing for each clip. It would also help us remember how our scene is arranged and what needs to be changed or kept the same for this project. An editing resource I utilized was iMovie. This editing app helped me put all my sounds in order neatly and saved all my changes right away. I also used this editing resource because it was very accessible to any sounds that were downloaded to my phone or on photos.

I think this project was done very well because it included a variety of sounds and was exactly how our brainstorming turned out like. Something I think we could've improved on was the rumbling. I think we could have made the rumbling a bit louder so the viewers get more of an idea that its an earthquake.
